Mental Health Coordinator, NAIT

Reporting to the director of Student Well Being and Community, the Mental Health Coordinator is responsible for managing the coordination and execution of the Mental Health Strategy, in alignment with the Campus Life Plan. The incumbent will work within the department of Campus Life to help implement and deliver a strategy, including timelines, ownership and communication/training plans, in support of mental health. This position will play a central role in advancing key initiatives in support of mental health, requiring broad engagement across NAIT’s student and staff population and including cross-departmental relations.

Mental Health Coordinator, NAIT

NOTE: This competition is limited to NAIT staff only. Reporting to the director of Student Well Being and Community, the Mental Health Coordinator is responsible for managing the coordination and execution of the Mental Health Strategy, in alignment with the Campus Life Plan. The incumbent will work within the department of Campus Life to help implement and deliver a strategy, including timelines, ownership and communication/training plans, in support of mental health. This position will play a central role in advancing key initiatives in support of mental health, requiring broad engagement across NAIT’s student and staff population and including cross-departmental relations. The Mental Health Coordinator position requires collaborative leadership and well-established project management skills and knowledge. In consultation with the Director, the Mental Health Advisory Committee, and other identified stakeholders, this position will be responsible for the conduct, quality, and alignment of initiatives related to the Mental Health Strategy. Key Responsibilities: Communication with contacts both internal and external to NAIT for the purpose of obtaining information, providing feedback, etc. Organize, delegate or assign the quantity and complexity of project work as appropriate and equitable. Allocation of funds for initiatives as named in the grant. Completion of required reporting to ensure compliance with grant regulations. Skills and Knowledge: Exceptional communication skills. The ability to conduct independent research through a variety of sources. Excellent time-management and organizational skills. The ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Experience with grant writing and reporting. Qualifications: Project Management certification or equivalent in project coordination experience Related post-secondary education would be an asset. Previous experience managing multi-dimensional projects, experience in a post-secondary environment would be an asset. Previous experience, 1 year in mental health program coordination/health promotion Completion of formal mental health first aid or suicide prevention training is preferred; completion of Community Helpers, QPR, The Working Mind or Inquiring Mind, or ASIST is considered an asset.
