A Happy, Healthy & Engaged Culture

Two key takeaways from this unit was the direct correlation that wellbeing has to engagement across an organization and how to embed wellbeing to not just be a program but apart of the culture.

We’ve just gone through an engagement survey and all leaders eagerly await their teams engagement scores. There is great emphasis placed on this measure as a measure of performance and company health. However some of the sentiments we’ve heard about mental health initiatives is centered around the cost to the organization (as an employee owned consulting firm, utilization and cost are scrutinized). Based on the research and resources we reviewed, there is a direct correlation between engagement and employees wellbeing. This information will better equip me heading into debriefs with Vice Presidents/CEO looking at our engagement scores and were we prioritize efforts.

We’ve done a lot of work around the safety and DEI space within our culture, but mental health and wellbeing seems to be an after thought until it becomes a crisis. Currently we refer to our wellbeing program, however the language of a program coming to an end, is not a constant. Slowly starting to look at our processes, procedures and how we integrate wellbeing components and ensure its equally valued across the organization.

At the end of the day the health of our employees is everyone’s job.

Great takeaways Alexandra. The idea of not calling it a "program" since is could give the idea that it is temporary stood out to me as well. That is great that your company has already done an engagement survey, I am curious how it was implemented in terms of anonymity and was it an external company who conducted, etc. Thank you, Joni
