Critical Reflection
In this unit, one of my takeaways was that the Psychological Health and Safety Standard is meant to be an ongoing process, that you don’t have to do everything at once and that you can start small and make gradual, consistent, and meaningful change over time. I think it can be easy to want to overhaul an entire program or implement everything at once, but this is a good reminder that incremental change can be impactful and can enable an organization to continually monitor and evaluate a program and how it is working.
Another takeaway is that what is more important than programs and resources is employee engagement with those resources. While you can have all sorts of support available, if employees aren’t using them, they aren’t contributing to a healthy and productive workplace. As a communicator, this encourages me to think about how wellbeing support is communicated and how you can encourage employees to utilize the resources available and make them easily accessible.

Yes I started mine as a Pilot Project and it is difficult to get the buy in and ongoing excitement as to when you first bring the idea up. We use Sharepoint and have wellness page and over the last few months have created consistency as to when I make a new page to get employees to engage but still a work in progress,.
