Wellness and business performance are closely connected.
Wellness, which includes psychological health and safety, and business performance are closely connected. While leaders may personally care about people, they often report to others (ex. Shareholders) who are focused on business performance. By understanding and being able to explain how improving employee wellness improves business performance, there will be greater leadership commitment and resources dedicated to employee wellness (both financial and human). Being able to show the benefit of wellness in terms of productivity, innovation, less absenteeism, less turnover, etc., which ultimately leads to improved competitiveness and financial position will position wellness as a key business objective to meet, and not a nice to have.
