Barb's Critical Reflection: The pond, not the fish, is in most need of attention
This unit was full of foundational "game-changing" knowledge.
Having taken it all in, what stands out for me is getting to the "why" of doing this essential work.
For me, and especially in the context of what's happening in the world or work today, social responsibility and sustainability goals are the roots of the business case. The need to focus on a "population health agenda" is vital. At the end of each working day, people should return to their families and community with their energy and health intact--and should never be harmed in negligent, reckless, or intentional ways.
Caring organizations know this and want to take action. Wise organizations know it's time to peel back the onion on how their workplace conditions and practices impact people (positively or negatively). The pond, not the fish, is in most need of attention.

I love "the pond, not the fish!"
