It’s clear that psychological health and safety is the way forward
It’s clear that psychological health and safety stands out as the way forward – what REALLY has impact in terms of employee wellbeing. In my role as Wellness Coordinator, I dance a fine line of providing the “visible wellness” – like walking challenges/engagement, and the “invisible wellness” - the behind the scenes, building awareness, looking at the baseline data, creating the presentations to Senior leaders to get the buy in and creating the behind the scenes movement that will ultimately lead to the shift in culture that will transform the wellbeing of our people going forward.
I am taking from this that book clubs, gym classes, walking challenges, etc, reach fewer people than culture/psychological health and safety so I will ensure I am spending more than 60% of my time on PSHS and development of our PSHMS moving forward, rather than letting myself get trapped in the weeds of the day to day stuff.
It’s clear we don’t have to start from scratch, but the importance of evaluating what we already have, celebrating that, and starting from there. I will be returning to our audit to see where we are at and help us decide where to “start” with our new corporate psychological health and safety steering committee.
Excited for the way forward.
