Developing a Human centered, trauma informed Wellness strategy for organizational health.
Critical Reflection: Incorporating a human-centered, trauma-informed approach in the development of our wellness strategy is crucial, especially given the nature of the work our front-line staff do with highly vulnerable individuals and communities. By capturing experiences and input of front-line staff, we can gain valuable insights into their unique needs and challenges. Engaging employees in the process helps foster a sense of ownership and investment in the wellness strategy. It ensures that their voices are heard and considered, increasing the likelihood of buy-in and support. Involving stakeholders and leadership further emphasizes the importance of staff wellness throughout the organization. By incorporating a collaborative approach, we can create a culture where staff wellness is seen as a priority and advocated for at all levels. This fosters a supportive environment where employees feel valued and supported in their own well-being, ultimately leading to better outcomes for both staff and the individuals they serve. As we develop our new Wellness Strategy, it's important to continuously communicate and reinforce the importance of staff wellness to all stakeholders. This will help ensure that it remains a central focus throughout the organization's operations and strategic planning for 2025-2030.
As I am familiar with the Workplace Health & Performance pillars, common success factors, Psychological Health & Safety standard and industry trends what really stood out for me is how Organizational health needs to be looked at holistically in order to develop an effective wellness strategy. Taking a broad approach that is centered on the pillars of health & performance and using them to inform not only practices, policies but the Organization’s overall Strategic development for 2025-2030. This learning has made me realize how important it is that I am involved in the 2025-2030 strategic development process for the Organization so that I can incorporate both a Wellness and EDI lens.
Looking forward to applying all the learnings throughout my Wellness work to help ensure Staff wellness continues to be prioritized on all fronts!
