Assessing the Current State - Critical Reflection
During this unit, I found a lot of value in the reinforcement of looking for the “root cause”. It seemed to be reiterated through multiple assignments/questions. This is helpful when looking at our own organization’s current state; I can easily point out concerns / issues, but they are not necessarily the “problem”. The actual problem is an underlying factor, and what we see on the surface are just symptoms. How I will take this away is that when looking at future strategies for our organization and assisting with business plan preparation, I can use these underlying root causes or factors to help drive strategies (rather than just listing our concerns).
I also found the breakdown of the scorecard template helpful. In order to sell this to our senior team, I will need to be able to provide the various scenarios where this would help our organization (i.e. socially, financially, other outcomes, etc.).
