What matters most?
We all want to work in a safe and healthy workplace. And, we also know that change is not anyone's favourite thing. The two constants in our world in the last few years have been change and uncertainty.
In order to create change in any organization, the key starting point is meeting people where they are; how do we do that? Data!
The assessment tools, identifying key stakeholders, engagement and input are going to build the foundation to creating the change organizations wish to see. And, just as important, are the measurable outcomes. This sets the stage for goal setting, accountability, and ensuring success. And, if the outcomes are not what we expected, good or bad, then what do we need to do differently.
I have a sign here in my office. When I used to teach, I often would look up and ask myself this; "If my students are not learning, what am I missing?'
The same applies in a workplace. If staff is disengaged, productiivty is suffering, reputation is not strong, what are we as leadership missing?
Engaging stakeholders is so important. When diverse perspectives come together, we can learn so much from each other, we build a relationship of trust, and a path forward to change.
Now all of this is much easier said that done but information, engagement, asssessment, and measurement are guiding posts and key tools for success.
