Its true...when your not the solution, your part of the problem!
This reflection actually hit me in a way that took my breath away. I had always prided myself on being a manager of the people, always on their side, making things better for them against a system or even an organization. I realized in this chapter however, I too had drunk the kool aid around there is nothing we can do about workload, its them not us! I realized I had justified not dealing with workload and tried to make up for it with pizza parties and nice emails. Alas, I ran the list of excuses I told myself and their supervisors as to why workload isnt really the issue. But it was. I would do something significantly different in the future. I would address workload, either by making a business case for more resources or by taking work off the table. And I would be committed to that as a practice.
