Critical Reflection: Assessing the Current State
What stood out from this unit is the continual drive to look at the root causes within the system. I feel much of the work to date has really focused on ‘putting a plaster (band aid) over the situation/firefighting a situation’, but until you identify the root causes, it is near impossible to shift the dial on that area of focus e.g. employee well-being, organizational culture, performance etc.
More consideration needs to be made for systems thinking e.g. how each component of an organization interacts and impacts other areas in an ever emergent and dynamic system. While its good to assess, it is equally important to continually assess, and monitor to support a continuous improvement cycle.
Sometimes it takes time to analyze and effectively identify and implement actions for survey results, that the contextual system has changed in the meantime, making some of the actions no longer effective or relevant.

Hi, Debbie!
Love your insights on the importance of root cause and systems. Your analogy of "putting a plaster (band aid) over" or "firefighting" a situation is so relevant. From my perspective, you are showcasing the importance of observing, monitoring, and paying close attention to lessons learned. When we learn, we grow and get better together!
All the best,
Barb
