Critical Reflection - Inspire, engage, integrate
As I am going through this Wellness Journey as it has been a challenge for me because I was given the role of Wellness Manager at the same time being asked to get involved in many areas of the company. And then adding the education piece into the mix of doing the certification put me in a difficult position to handle so many things with high expectations. I would have preferred to be given the opportunity to take the course first and not having the wellness program run parallel. This way you have the opportunity to learn and grow into the role and share your knowledge as you go through the program. This unit was the crux of everything I have been trying to accomplish in such a short time and what stood out for me was developing a plan, involving stakeholders and finding the wellness champions first. Once I developed a plan and presented my work, it was a much easier sell for me to the leaders of the company. I wish I would have done this prior to starting the initiatives and challenges in the wellness program as that would have made things much easier for me. The managers from various department came to me once I showed them what our plans were for wellness and they were much more connected with the employees. The importance of involving all directors to managers is critical as networking is a challenge when we are staggered throughout the organization. Perhaps getting some wellness champions out there in the beginning may have been helpful for us. There were many what ifs I would have changed but at the end, I think the impact of wellness was definitely made in our workplace

Thank you for sharing your insights. I would feel the same way you did. I like to feel confident in what I'm doing before being thrown into a role. Sounds like you are doing great! way to take on such a big challenge.
