Critical Reflection - Sparking Stakeholders
My key takeaway from this unit is the importance of not just convincing key stakeholders of the merit of a Wellbeing and Performance plan, but metaphorically lighting a spark under your key players so that you can inspire the monumental shift required to make real change. This includes inspiring others at different levels of the team to become engaged ambassadors, an idea I love.
The video about Change Management vs Change Leadership was interesting, and given John Kotter’s explanation, it is surprising to me that one term should be used instead of the other: they are completely different concepts to me! Both have their places and uses, but one is a set of tools and processes (Change management), and the other is a motivating ideology (change leadership). Kotter doesn’t seem to agree, but surely there is room for thoughtful use of both concepts: Bold progressive moves, but with a degree of due diligence so the team doesn’t get the impression that the company is winging it.

I agree they are very different! They could either be used at the same time or one could look at using change leadership followed by change management! The risk management piece shouldn't be ignored, but it is equally important to inspire and motivate shared ownership!
