CWHP-A Reflections: Unit WWC02

One Step At A Time

Looking back, I’ve felt the most discomfort and lack of clarity with this unit. I feel confident in strengthening my foundational knowledge of workplace health and performance and I’m excited to assess the current state of our university; however, I feel a bit stuck thinking about how I’m going to inspire change and engage key stakeholders.

This unit has been a great opportunity to reflect on my skill set and beliefs and identify areas for focus and improvement such as learning how to create business cases, developing project and change management skills, mastering empathy, active listening and how to align with key stakeholder goals and wants while still moving this work forward in meaningful ways. But I’ll need to not get too far ahead of myself because I imagine taking time to thoroughly complete the work from the first units, such a strong assessments, will naturally help me discover meaningful ways to build a business case and engage stakeholders at TRU. I need to follow along with the framework, adapting where needed, and trust in my ability to figure things out one step at a time while leaning on a support team.

Yes one step at a time. Find out what’s important to stakeholders, and run with that to inspire them. That part can take some time though-so yes-don’t try to eat the whole elephant at once!
