Critical Reflection: Inspire, Engage, and Integrate
The key learning for me from this unit was the importance of integration. I enjoyed simply defining this work and really think about what it means. Integration is so important when it comes to employee well-being efforts. I know from my experience, any wellness efforts that isn’t integrated into a larger plan seems to struggle. If there isn’t the integration of employee feedback at all levels it often can miss the mark. I’ve worked with a few clients who hire employee wellness leads (which is amazing). Though this helps tremendously with moving efforts forward, that person needs to be integrated into a larger team an effort. They need to understand the big picture to be able to make meaningful change.
I also enjoyed learning about Change Management vs Change Leadership. Often when it comes to change, leadership will hold cards close to their chest as they don’t want to create fear of unknowns with their staff. However, being proactive and collaborative with change can allow for staff to feel empowered, feel like their voices are heard and even allow them to identify solutions and ideas that may have been missed otherwise. This is a concept I will definitely be sharing with the clients I work with.
