Shared Accountability is Crucial

Defining clear responsibilities are crucial to the success of a workplace health and performance program. Where everyone- stakeholders, leaders and employees- understand their roles, it creates a sense of shared ownership and can ensure consistent follow through of the expectation for each role. Defining the roles and responsibilities when it comes to planning, promoting and participating in these programs will help avoid confusion, improve coordination and keep the wellness intiatives on track. This also allows progress to be measured accurately, allowing each role to contribute to the overall success of a program. With all levels of the organization involved, this creates a level of accountability, so the program becomes more effective, and inclusive- contributing to the shared purpose.

Yes, I agree - especially regarding how holding everyone accountable for their actions based on pre-determined roles and responsibilities, processes and procedures, enables them to feel they have contributed to the overall wellness program, and if human nature has proved anything, these contributions must be recognized and rewarded for the contributions to have mattered.
