Pivot!
For me, the need to be innovative and responsive stood out as key learnings. I enjoyed learning about deliberate strategy vs emergent strategy and reflecting on what this looks like in my work. There is a need to be responsive to employee’s needs and feedback and to recognize this work will constantly need to pivot and adjust to the emerging needs of employees and the environmental changes. There’s also the need to be innovative and creative with action planning and responding to these needs.
Funding is usually tight for most organizations so getting creative with how we can keep wellness on the agenda with limited funding is something I’m sure we will all get good at! This unit was a good reminder that at the end of the day, it’s the people that make up an organization and that define the culture. The more involved our employees are in the action planning and solutioning, the more likely we are to meet their needs and the more engaged they will feel. It’s also more likely we will be able to create meaningful action when we have this open and ongoing communication with employees.
