Adequate resources, clear roles and responsibilities
As I reflect back on this unit, I find that it is crucial to define the roles and responsibilities of every participant part of a project or committee. It happens so often that employees and/or managers are appointed to work on special projects or become a member of a committee when they don't have any interest in that project. The result is that, although we have "adequate resources", not everybody contributes to the extent that they should, which is why we need to establish clear roles and responsibilities with timelines for deliverables and hold everyone accountable for their actions. Shared accountability will help us build a healthy and high performing work culture.

I agree Chantal. Clear roles and responsibilities are crucial. In my experience it seems that the lack of interest in special projects is because of lack of adequate resourcces - namely time provided to step outside of typical role to particiapte. However, if leadership is providing their support, commmunicating this effectively and being held accountable this would go a long way in encouraging employees to become engaged in an initiative.
