Critical Reflection - Integrated Planning
Listening to what staff are saying and what they want and engaging them in helping with solutions and ideas. Giving everyone the space to contribute, engage and be champions of causes. Having focus groups and committees to create plans, anticipate obstacles, and collaborate to find solutions and have a “plan b”. There are a lot of small things that can have big impact, and they don’t have to be an extravagant cost to the company. For example, allowing staff to have a flexible work schedule that works for them can help alleviate stress for people who have commitments outside of work such as with children or care of ailing parents. We allow staff to work from home if they need to and we do have a Flexible Work Allowance where people can purchase equipment for their home office. This is a cost to our company, but the company recognizes the value of having employees who are happy in their job which in turn results in staff retention and higher productivity and profitability.
