Critical Reflection - Creative Solutions to Barriers
This unit had an interesting question/assignment that asked about barriers and creating momentum without additional funding. I thought that to be pretty thought provoking and I was able to generate a few creative ideas in this area involving different areas of our organization I hadn’t given thought to before – so that stood out for me. The need for different strategies or approaches when running into certain barriers (particularly funding, as a not-for-profit organization).
I’ve also never given that much thought into emergent strategy. As a medium sized organization, we typically only have deliberate strategies. But going back to my workplace, I will definitely think more about emergent strategies and ways to be innovative, while still following our deliberate long-term plan.

Hi! I agree, the concept of WOOP, whereby planning for potential barriers is fundamental, can be a game-changer for smaller organizations, especially non-profit organizations, that have limited resources (e.g. labour and funding) and because of the limited resources cannot afford process delays, double work, setbacks, etc.
