Final Reflection

I really enjoyed doing this program.  It has helped me understand that employee wellbeing is much larger than offering access to an Employee Assistance Program and organizing a few wellness activities.  Leadership buy-in is a very crucial element to be able to create and support a culture of health and performance.  The tools provided in this program are very helpful.  I really liked the stakeholder analysis which helps to identify all stakeholders, the “what’s in it for them” and how to engage them in the strategic planning to build a successful healthy and performing culture.

Managers and ambassadors must be involved to support the initiatives and reach the desired outcomes.  Leading by example is very important to change the culture of the organization as well as communicating effectively to ensure the messages reach everyone, are clear and well understood.  To be successful, the organization must allocate adequate ressources to support the strategic plan to build a healthy and high performing culture.  Without adequate resources, it may be more challenging to reach the desired outcomes and improve health and performance.  Employees are our most precious asset and it’s important to invest in them so that they can reach their full potential, be healthy, happy, and engaged at work and motivated to give their best performance.  Celebrating quick wins, recognizing employees and managers for their good work does not cost much and can help build the momentum. Changing the culture takes time and we will take it one success at a time!
