Taking Action
This is the first certification I’ve taken that I could begin implementing right away. This is exciting and meaningful for me as I tend to be an ‘information hoarder’. I love to learn but the timing of training hasn’t always been right, so it gets put on the shelf for “that day when I’ll ‘for sure’ need it.” This time it's different. Here are the actions I’ve already taken to start influencing a culture of health and performance (H&P):
Shared the ‘Job Description Sample’ from Wellness Works with my manager advocating for the direction I’d love to move my role to have more H&P impact
Advocated to be included in our campus-wide culture project – with success (which is huge because culture is foundational to workplace well-being)
Learning about the university’s governance structure, values/goals, and leadership, to name a few, to better understand who key stakeholders are so I can align WIIFT to a H&P strategy (I’ve also been building stronger relationships with stakeholders by participating in related campus events and committees).
Started gathering assessment data we already have to inform a strategy (e.g., workshop feedback, disability and EAP utilization, past engagement surveys, etc.) - as well as received approval to review our Exit Interview data to understand turnover and its connection to well-being/culture/psychological safety, etc.
Started collecting information on departments/people already invested in this work on campus (potential ambassadors, anyone?)
Creating a helpful reference guide with my CWHP-A posts and key insights and resources to refer back to (as well as a high-level review for my manager to share what I’ve learned, achieve greater buy-in and outline the future direction of this work - even just small steps we could take right now).
And soon, celebrating the success of becoming a CWHP-A (my quick win 😊)
(and much more to come!)

Hi, Sam! Makes my heart sing! Brilliant application (and a brilliant mind and attitude). Time to celebrate!
