Final Reflection
This course has been helpful for learning new things and reminding myself of the key steps that need to take place to build a meaningful wellness strategy. I work with school divisions who are all so different in terms of their funding, staffing structures, cultures and more. I learned so many helpful ideas and resources that I can use with all my school groups, no matter where they are at in the journey. Here’s a few of my key learnings:
1) Ensuring leadership is on the same page with priorities and fully understand the benefits of promoting employee well-being. Also, so important for me to remember to include information that is most relevant to this group when starting out this planning.
2) Planning and organization. I got some great ideas, tools, and templates that I can use to help plan a wellness strategy. It's important to write this down and ensuring you do have goals/objectives and assigned leads to help create meaningful action.
3) The importance of integration! Ensuring that wellness strategies are integrated into the workplace will help bring the plan to life. Including information about employee well-being/PH&S in a job description was a great idea for how you can tangibly do this.
4) VOI vs ROI. I’ve used this term before, but I often have gotten stuck on ROI when building a wellness plan. Having some great resources around VOI and understanding how to present this will be valuable for planning moving forward.
A huge thank you to Victoria and the rest of the Wellness Works team for all your support and critical responses to my posts. I’m looking forward to applying all my learnings moving forward.
