Final reflection - a collection of learnings
There were a few key pieces that really stood out for me:
1. Importance of planning. This is a learning curve for me as I tend to be a bit more spontaneous and action-first oriented. But taking the time to assess the current state and determine a plan for where we want to be will help me to make more consistent progress in the desired direction.
2. Organizational root causes. This stood out to me because it aligns with my OHS background. It makes sense to take time to identify root causes for issues that we might want to address, as any strategies that focus on the underlying reason for the issues are more likely to be successful, and more likely to result in significant cultural change.
3. Stakeholder identification. Although I’ve been aware of the importance of engaging stakeholders for a while, I liked the use of a stakeholder assessment to prompt me to consider not just who they are but how they are connected to the project. How will they be impacted? What kind of influence do they have over the implementation? What matters to them? All of which will affect the success of any strategies we try.
4. Integration. Ensuring that wellness and performance strategies are integrated into our culture and current state will help to ensure both their success and longevity.
5. Shared responsibility. As someone who tends to do it all, it’s hard to admit that I can’t do it alone. Sharing actions and responsibilities across the organization not only makes it easier to achieve but also ensures that the program has a life beyond me and my role.

Hi Caroline, great insights into the program itself. I think the biggest opportunity we all can benefit from is the importance of Shared Responsibility. In the wellness space, we tend to be caring - looking out for everyone around us - our teams, our families and friends. It is so important to highlight that in the workplace health and performance space, it is a shared responsibility across all levels of the organization to see what the pain points are, develop a plan, identify where we can leverage stakeholder insights and integrate a wellness strategy that is impactful for all - the employee and the employer.
