I really like the idea of considering the value of an investment, and communicating that to client. In this case, I understood VOI to be a more holistic approach to measuring the benefits of an investment that goes beyond just financial returns. VOI seeks to capture the overall value created by an investment, including non-financial benefits such as increased productivity, enhanced reputation, improved customer satisfaction, and so on. VOI is usually more difficult to measure than ROI, as it requires identifying and quantifying the various benefits that an investment creates. I think it is critical to communicate VOI to potential clients, especially since ROI of programs can sometimes take a long time to produce results and you want programs to have continued momentum and budget.
