Final reflection
I am so pleased to have gotten through this course. It taught me so much, but also reinforced some of my existing beliefs and knowledge. There is definitely a large
disconnect between what the employer thinks and feels and what the employees think and feel about workplace wellness - and that is something that i am hoping to change. As well, getting those organizations who think they are doing all they need to do - to really understand and utilize existing programs better or tweak or add to them to make them more robust. I am looking forward to using some of the great tools that we were shown throughout the course - some of my own stuff is ok - but i love the Wellness Works resources - they are very complete and full of great information. I really hope to reduce the stigma on the areas of mental health and illness in the workplace - i still think more people are "hurting" than they are letting on - and the good old broad label "stress leave" is likely mental health issues. As well, as i had stated in another essay - it is shocking to me how many people i have known over the years who have had to go on disability due to stress (disguised as mental illness i am sure). I aim to reduce these types of workplace claims by improving the culture. Thank you for all the internal and external resources given to us during this course - they are all fantastic and good reminders that help is there, just need to find it and use it.😀

I agree about companies understanding they need to do more. It's not always a lot, could be small tweaks, as you say.
