Final Reflection - Clear Plans
Wrapping up the final unit has created a new level of inspiration as I head back to work after my maternity leave. Looking back at the different units, I think it’s great the way that a strategy can be broken down into the different areas (from Assessment to Evaluation). Using the guide as a roadmap for my own organization will be helpful to break down each step in the process.
Given the size of our organization, I know that the goal to create a culture of health and performance will not be a quick win. So, to break down each area will allow us to see progress before jumping in all at once. For example, without completing a formal assessment, I will be able to use existing recent employee survey data (along with a smaller pulse survey) to get us started. It’s then easier for our organization to see where we are headed and already 1/5 of the way through the process.
Another area that will stick with me is the need to have a clear vision (outcomes) for the strategy. And, the need to tailor or adjust the outcomes or objectives as barriers arise or we just need to shift based on our environment.
I don’t think a lot of employees are even aware that there is a published set of factors for a psychologically healthy and safe workplace. Even just starting there with awareness could be a big eye opener and start some healthy conversations around that topic.

Thanks for sharing Erin. I agree; as well, although my current place of employment does put an emphasis on phycological safety there are areas where we can improve. I was often giving feedback to the team, and this was also a new area of discussion as not only was I not aware but nor where the team.
