A Good Kind of Contagious!
Critical Reflection - Leadership and Culture
This unit really ran the gamut, in a good way! What stood out to me the most is the emphasis on two traits that I (luckily) feel a strong connection to: positivity and empathy.
The about section of my LinkedIn profile actually says simply “Empathy and enthusiasm.” Partly because I didn’t know how I ought to use LinkedIn, and partly because that is just me in a nutshell.
To have those traits recognized as the signifiers of a good leader is empowering to me, and so far away from that stereotypical hard nosed boss or cold and aloof authority figure that remains top of mind for many people when they imagine the leader of a company.
Since I connect so strongly with these traits, I know I can encourage and foster them in other leaders as well. Positivity is after all, contagious!

I think it's great that those traits are becoming more broadly seen as good traits for all leaders and not just "soft skills" that women have (and seen as less than). Times are (slowly-ish) changing!
