CWHP-P Reflection: Unit WHPP03
Strategic Program Management Unit Key Learnings:
1. Strategic Health and Performance: Strategic health and performance involves aligning health initiatives with organizational goals to improve overall well-being and productivity.
2. Governance and Worksite Health and Performance Committees: Establishing governance structures and worksite committees can help in overseeing health and performance initiatives, ensuring accountability, and promoting employee engagement.
3. Appreciative Strategy: Using an appreciative inquiry approach in strategy development focuses on strengths, successes, and positive experiences to drive organizational change and innovation.
4. Project Scope: Clearly defining the project scope helps in setting boundaries, managing expectations, and ensuring that deliverables meet the desired outcomes.
5. Time Cost Quality: Balancing time, cost, and quality is essential in project management to deliver results efficiently without compromising on the quality of the deliverables.
6. Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks throughout a project's lifecycle is crucial to minimize potential disruptions and ensure successful outcomes.
More money more tracking!
This was a great unit to remind of the project planning and strategy. I realized I need to do a better job with budgeting – pre-planning, asking for the money and tracking where we are at with cost as one of the three project limitations. If I am going to ask for budget to pay for the initiatives, I need to show good project cost management and tracking. It’s time to level up.
The Budget Unknown
One of the biggest takeaways for me from this unit was the aspect of budgeting. In my view, it’s really hard to determine a budget until you do the assessment and planning to see what elements are actually needed for the organization and the employees.
This could be a potential barrier to getting buy-in to even start the strategic planning process, because there’s no way to guess a budget until you go through the planning. However, there are many changes that can improve health and performance that are free or low-cost and of course the organization could prioritize the items that are part of the health and performance strategy budget.
