Build the army, transform the culture

My key takeaway from this module was around not just relationship building, but maintaining these relationships and channels and ensuring communication is often, ongoing and engaged to ensure we keep rowing in the same direction and progressing towards our goals, not just in the daily grind or responding to problems. I feel motivated to re-engage with my wellness champions, to prioritize rounding with them at least semi-annually and to schedule it so it doesn’t get missed. And to have a good tracking system (our organization uses stop-light reports) for their ideas and this give opportunity for accountability for them too to be making progress in their own wellness initiatives in their teams.  Reinspired to build the army that’s going to transform the culture and create the psychologically safe workplace we all aspire to.

What else might be true?

One of the things that stuck out for me in the unit is the practice of appreciative inquiry. I’m someone who has always been a curious person and who asks a lot of questions.

I love the idea that we purposely seek out asking the right (and sometimes, hard, but better) questions as a tool to improve workplace culture.

I really like Deborah’s question “What else might be true?” as a way to challenge status quo or perspectives.

I will definitely bring this practice of appreciative inquiry to the work I do!

Effective, Inspiring Communication in Practice

What stood out in these learnings is the emphasis on building relationships, effective communication, and stakeholder engagement as crucial elements for success in developing a workplace health and performance strategy. To enhance my approach further, I would consider incorporating more interactive feedback mechanisms for continuous improvement, fostering a culture of innovation, and regularly evaluating the impact of our initiatives to make data-driven decisions for future strategies.

Appreciative Enquiry!

I love the appreciative inquiry technique! It's such a great tool and while I have used it before, I had forgotten about it and I'll be using it again soon in some of the team development I'm doing now.

It was also a great unit to reflect on the differences within organizations and how resourced some I have worked for are - and how much WORK many of us do when we're in a smaller organization without a huge COMS team!

love this reflection. I was inspired by the appreciative inquiry technique too. How positive and motivating and engaging it can be. 1000% we do so much more than we give ourselves credit for! Thanks for sharing.
